Fluency Writing

Learning Experience Overview

Students write for fluency at least once a week. Fluency writing can be completed for homework or in class. Students should not stop for translation. (This may be especially tempting for students with lower proficiency levels.) Teachers may facilitate greater fluency by introducing the prompt and allowing students time to brainstorm. Teachers in lower levels may also encourage students to write a list of words they may need to use to answer that prompt, translating as needed. Once they begin writing, they should not stop to translate words.
