Within a Reading course, teachers have autonomy in how vocabulary will be presented, taught, and practiced. However, students should be required to apply strategies to unknown vocabulary that they come across.

Here are some possible ways that students can produce vocabulary:

• Word Lists (teacher or student created)
• Note cards
• Synonyms
• Usage: Students could be encouraged/required to use the target words in speech or text about novels/articles read.
